Workplace health promotion at Dr.Clauder
As a responsible family business, it is not only the well-being and health of our four-legged friends that is important to us - the same also applies to our employees. Because without them, we would not have reached where we are today as a company.
In order to promote the health and well-being of our employees, we integrated health promotion into the corporate structures at Dr.Clauder in 2017 under the motto "Together Healthy + Active".
Origin and aspiration of health promotion
The four core values of Dr.Clauder are anchored in the VISION 2030: responsibility, team, passion and sustainability. In order to do justice to these core values, our Managing Directors decided in 2017 to start with workplace health promotion and to develop it further from promotion to workplace health management.
An important component of workplace health promotion is anchored in the vision "For a happier living between pets and humans around the world!": "happier life" requires "happy people". Sustainable workplace health management and its effects go beyond the prevention of diseases. The reduction of workload and the resulting positive effects, among other things, are in the foreground. Health and satisfaction in everyday working life demonstrably contribute to less absenteeism due to illness and higher performance. It is therefore obvious why occupational health management is important for every company.
We started with the aim of integrating a sustainable and holistic health concept and anchoring health in all structures and processes at Dr.Clauder. Over the years, health promotion has continued to develop: Because only through optimisation and continuous improvement can we really achieve the ambitious goals we have set ourselves. That is why regular reviews are just as standard for us as the measures themselves.
What we do in concrete terms: health promotion measures
Our employees now benefit from a range of different measures relating to the important areas of health. We rely on a mixture of workshops, courses and firmly implemented offers:
Fruit
Once a week, every employee receives free fruit to strengthen their natural defences. The fruit is supplied exclusively by regional farmer's shops. In addition, drinks such as water and coffee are available to employees free of charge.
Lunch
Subsidised seasonal lunches from a regional farm shop are always available in our power plant for refreshment.
JobRad - bicycle leasing
With JobRad, our employees can lease their dream bicycle at favourable conditions and redeem it later at a favourable price. And that's not all: their family members can also take advantage of the offer. Rose City Bocholt is available as a regional cooperation partner.
Health prevention
The cooperation with a physiotherapist in the region, exercise offers and annual health days are just as much part of our company health promotion as the ergonomic redesign of our offices.
Health days
The importance of health is emphasised every year within the framework of a health day. For one day a year, everything at Dr.Clauder revolves around the topic of health - with activities, measures and offers relating to the various aspects of physical and mental health. In recent years, for example, employees have been able to take part in a yoga course, the moving break or the stress scales and thus also expand their knowledge in these areas. No two health days are the same: Every year we set new priorities and develop new offers. In 2022, the Health Day was able to take place again for the first time after the Corona break with an extensive programme. From BIA measurements and ergonomics training to back checks and a healthy lunch, the programme was enthusiastically accepted by the staff.
Offers from the year 2019
Stress management workshop
In2019 ,a workshop focusing on dealing with stress at work and self-management was held for the first time. As a complementary support offer to company measures, the focus here was on personal understanding of the effects of stress and individual situation analysis. Sources of stress were identified, resources developed and promoted. With individual tips on how to optimally organise work and deal with stress factors, the employees were given assistance in promoting and supporting their mental health.
Ergonomics for frequent drivers
Our field staff are exposed to different physical challenges than their colleagues in the office - this, of course, cannot be ignored: In order to also support the health of field workers, the workshop "Ergonomics for frequent drivers" took place in 2019. This workshop offered interactive and practical tips on how to optimally set up and implement ergonomics in the car and provided many suggestions for a healthy and active break in the car and relaxation in the evening. What does ergonomics actually mean? What happens to the body when driving frequently and for long periods of time? These and many other questions were answered in the workshop, and there was also help for a healthy diet.
Active break
In 2019, all employees were able to take part in the "Active Break" course in order to get some momentum into their daily work routine and to provide suggestions for organising their breaks. Boost circulation and get rid of tension: This is how many colleagues came together weekly to loosen up their backs and muscles, stretch and prevent tension - always under the supervision of a competent physiotherapist. Whether it was stretching exercises for the parts of the body stressed by everyday office life, a small workout or fascia training: everything was included to give the circulation a proper boost and to acquire a lasting basic understanding of an active break.
